How to apply for a WGSSS Studentship – 23rd November (13.30-15.00)

How to write a research proposal – 24th November (14.00-15.00)

We are the Welsh Graduate School for the Social Sciences (WGSSS) an ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership that provides training through the funding of Postgraduate research students at universities across Wales on a diverse range of issues affecting society today. Through our competitions we offer full fees and maintenance, as well as a training allowance, for up to 72 students a year, across the social sciences. Our students benefit from excellent training in social science research methods, a guaranteed placement and outstanding supervision at a research-intensive university, as well as welfare support and career guidance.

WGSSS welcomes applications from students of all backgrounds. We value academic excellence and life skills, as well as the ability to meet challenges and student’s capacity to enrich the life of our community. Widening participation is a key goal for WGSSS and we are keen to receive applications from able and ambitious students. We are a collaboration between Cardiff University (the lead institution), Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, the University of Gloucestershire, the University of South Wales and Swansea University.

The WGSSS competition is now open to applications. Full information on WGSSS studentships, eligibility and how to apply are available on our studentships page.  Further information about the WGSSS’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy is available on our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion page. WGSSS is committed to supporting students in preparing their applications.
